Hawaiian R&B fresh face, Ash is in full bloom. The 22-year-old born Ashley Lilinoe's identity is deeply connected to the physical world, with her surname translating to "fine mist" in Hawaiian, and her nom de plume Ash referring to "what remains when all is set to flame," a form of rebirth.
After spending her youth on the island, the budding artist is currently living on an organic farm in Kelowna, British Columbia with her partner, where she's cultivating, seeding and transplanting crops, and is supremely focused on sustainability, which is also reflected in her music and artistry.
"Our buying and trashing mindset has encouraged polluted water sources and growing lands, and millions of post-consumer landfill sites that ooze the toxicity of a greedy and scarce culture," she says.
Returning from her sensual track, "Lover Friend", which has accumulated over 100k streams from the past month; Ash follows up with a jazz-influenced single "Naked."
With the spirit of an Earth Mother, "Naked" infuses elements of 80s R&B and puts a modern rendition on it. We recommend this track for a long afternoon hike alone.
